How does NTC thermistor work?

 

Thermistor uses the characteristic that the resistance value of a semiconductor changes with temperature

to form a thermal element. Within a certain temperature range, according to the change of the measured

thermistor value, the temperature change of the measured medium can be known. When the temperature

changes are the same, the resistance of the thermistor changes about 10 times that of the lead thermal resistance.

Because the conduction mode of semiconductors is carrier conduction, this forms the temperature characteristics

of semiconductors. Since the number of carriers in a semiconductor is far fewer than the free electrons in a metal,

its resistivity becomes larger. As the temperature increases, the number of carriers participating in conduction in the

semiconductor increases, the conductivity will increase, and the resistivity will also decrease.
